Depression during winter is a common theme in all
countries that have snow.
Some people claim that the lack of vitamin D which
usually comes from the sun is the main suspect. But I am not convinced that is
the case, because there are depressed people in all seasons. Which leads us to
the point of confusion what is going on, and how to deal with it? With winter
usually come exhaustion, cold and lack of sun – which can lead to unwanted side
effects on the body. So how can we deal with all these problems?
1. Use sunscreen even during winter, because the sun
can be damaging to the skin as if it’s summer, if not even more !
2. Get some multivitamins or at least some vitamin C.
3. Dose up on them – so your immune system is up to
the task of protecting you during all the colds that people catch. Plus
vitamins can help you deal with depression as they balance the chemicals inside
your body.
4. Drink more hot cups of your favorite poison (tea preferably).
5. Don’t even think about watching some drama shows –
you are already in depression, you might as well watch some comedies or listen
to your favorite music instead.
6. Hug – hug whatever and whoever you can !
7. Always stay warm – cold feet and hands are not
going to give you a good mood, believe me. So buy some thick socks, warm shoes
and some gloves.
8. People are social animals so have some guests over,
or you go visit a friend. Don’t isolate yourself just because it is cold
outside, this will depress you even more.
